I hope you are having a Happy Yuletide Season!
Since mid-Summer, I have been back into study. I am focusing on the core components in the topic of AI. There are many parts in this arena and a good simple, starting point is essential. Jumping into the deep end is not a good idea with AI due to its diverse areas. “It’s dangerous to go alone!”
Finding this starting point can be a challenge in the wave of “Instant Python, Keras, Gradient Descent, and You” material. Fortunately, a book came across my desk that helps with that high-level view of AI. I decided to go through it and glad that I did. I will now pass that information to you.

What it is
This book is a good guide into the topic. It takes the approach as being a general look/high level view of areas in AI Research and Applications. You will learn the base definitions, functional thoughts, and some history. There are also use cases presented. The references and glossary are a plus.
What it is not
You are not going to gain in-depth theory. It is not a series to teach you how to code AI, let alone understand the math and design process. This might not be for those advanced in the field of AI. Still, students would be wise to learn where all of this started and its growth.
Final Thoughts
I would like to recommend this book for anyone interested that will be taking a step into that world. It is not a long read so you can complete it quickly. Then, you can decide which direction you would like to take on your study path. Again, this should be considered as an overview of AI rather than a “how to” manual.
For those considering a read, look at the samples of the book you are provided from the various online stores. If you do go further from there and fully read it, I hope that you enjoy it and gain good, useful knowledge.
Thank you and Have a Merry Christmas!
