A wise folly can lead to great things!

Starting the New Year with Change!

Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful 2023!

I have numerous experiments planned for 2024. They could change priority, direction, and scope as the year goes on. Adaptation is an important skill we all have to varying levels. I hope you enjoy what I put out into the internet-ether. Maybe you get something useful out of it too.

On the topic of change, I want to announce a new name for my blog. The original name “Andrew’s Folly” was an experiment in itself. I merely chose the name out of the air. Well, it turns out that there is an interesting historical aspect to that name. History is something we should learn from in order to grow.

The name “Andrews’ Folly” refers to a Victorian Gothic Style Home1, 2 belonging to chemist Samuel Andrews3. This home had many rooms to it but had a particular design flaw. This stopped the house to be usable for the time intended. Thus, the term “Andrews’ Folly” was formed . I will leave a few references for you to follow more below (and you should read more on it).

Granted the name Andrews’ is different than Andrew’s, it still made me think that I should consider a new name. True, I’m a mere hobbyist with this blog but hope to do more with it. Sharing ideas, experiences, and experiment results is actually a bit of fun. Just to tease one thought, I want to try my hand at using an iPad for most, if not all, of my computing needs. That will be a challenge, which sounds like fun too.

With that, the new name of the blog is

Andy’s Neural Works

I like it in a simple, direct way. I also prefer using Andy instead of Andrew. It is more casual and that is usually a better state for coming up with ideas.

There is also new URL! Here is the link:

http://andysneuralworks.com

The original URL will stay for a while till I figure out all of the links.

The  tagline needs to change too. It should pay honor to its predecessor, so here we have it:

A wise folly can lead to great things!

With the new name and tagline in place, let’s get back to it!

Thank you and have a great day!
